MayhemMayhem is what happens when you leave the panels behind.  Play some giant Jenga, earn some con badges from the Scouts or get your fortune read.  There are lots of activities going on all convention long, look around and you’ll find some fun!

It can be exactly what it says on the label,  but just like that thrift store find, with a bit of creativity (and maybe a hot glue gun) it can be whatever you want it to be.  The costuming track is a place to learn to create or modify costumes and props with a bit of makeup thrown in so you can really become your character.

The deadline for all event proposals and suggestions is February 1st, 2016, in 3 short weeks!  This is a great time to tell us what you’d like to present, or suggest ideas our track heads can use, using our forms.

You can always find the links for submitting events and ideas right on the front page of the Penguicon website! We would love for you to submit a proposal for an event that you intend to present!

We’d also love it if you’d help us reach out beyond Penguicon, so we can get even more interesting and unique programming voices.  Please share this post, and encourage people who have something to bring to the community to check us out, whether or not they’ve been to Penguicon before.

bx7u0444_sizedEach year there is a chance for people who love making costumes and cosplay to show off their creations and passion.  If this applies to you then consider entering into our costume contest and get some bragging rights.  Not so interested in getting up in front of people to show off?  No Problem, you can enter into the “Hall Favorite” portion of the costume contest.  Throughout the weekend, N.U.E.T, better known as the Con Scouts will be running around asking people to enter both portions. So come on down for some fun, great costumes, and maybe even enter for a chance to win some cool prizes.

Tux the Penguin is the official mascot of the open source operating system Linux, and at Penguicon we bring you experts in all kinds of open source software and related topics like security and privacy to help you navigate the technical world. If you use a computer or a smartphone chances are you will find something useful to you in our Tech Track presentations. We schedule presentations in a variety of topics and at various levels of expertise, so even a relative novice will find something interesting and useful.

media trackPreviously the Film Track, the Media Track is a broader approach, combining video, film, social media (including YouTube), and other creative fields both online and offline for creators and fans of any medium. Panels for creators and entrepreneurs will have tips, tricks, and other information on screen writing, podcasting, and other mediums that are emerging into the media field. Local films will also be shown with Question/Answer periods with the creative minds behind them.
